: : News May 2009 - E.S.E. Standardization

For several months, information on the standardization in lightning protection is spread by certain actors, with the aim of introducing a confusion on the markets. The conflicting character of the existing national E.S.E. standards (NF C 17-102 in France) with the standards of the EN 62 305 series was arbitrarily asserted there, and the next withdrawal of the E.S.E. standards was too quickly announced.

During the last BT 134 meeting on April 22nd and 23rd in Vilnius, the CENELEC noted the position of the French Committee of standardization, which confirms the non-conflicting character of the NF C 17-102 E.S.E. standard. This standard can thus definitely coexist with the previously mentioned recent European standardization (EN 62 305).

Furthermore, the CENELEC has invited France to introduce its E.S.E. standard with the aim of studying its conversion into a CENELEC European document.

This double decision ends all the unfounded assertions spread about national E.S.E. standards. Consequently their validity is confirmed.
