Since 2009, some lightning lobbyists are communicating by any available means that the ESE standards are in conflict with the IEC 62 305 series. Their proposal was that ESE Standards should be withdrawn because in their opinion these standards were in conflict with EN 62305. CENELEC already answered clearly in April 2010 to this request, however this group has kept debating on.
CENELEC has recently the opportunity to clarify the position of the European Standard body while answering a question from Mr. Farhad Rachidi (ICLP President). This answer ends the biased debate definitely: “There is no conflict between ESE Standards and EN 62305, and BT has not ordered to withdraw them. ESE national standards are in force, in line with the CEN-CENELEC Internal Regulations".
Therefore, anti-ESE lobbyists have failed to monopolize the lightning protection market with conventional systems. We do hope that we can focus on providing solutions for an efficient, environmentally friendly and cost effective protection against lightning hazards. That is our daily priority rather than arguing on Forums.
